Rancho Aguayo is a project commissioned by developers in Oaxaca. The site is located 20 minutes from the city centre and is surrounded by small traditional houses.

The concept is based on two main premises: first, to build blocks that contain groups of apartments and terraces, instead of 1500 houses side by side as initially requested by the client. The second premise is to introduce the existing street in the neighbourhood context to the lot in order to mark its main axis, which helps establish the form of the construction blocks. Each unit contains three prototype apartments that can be adapted to achieve different results within each block.

Additionally, the blocks serve as a barrier towards the exterior, instead of having a wall along the perimeter as often found in projects of this type. Inside, there are common areas, gardens, and parking spaces. The ultimate priority is to promote community living through public recreational spaces, which was determined by the scale of the project itself.
