This residence is located on Beethoven Street in East Los Angeles, a suburban area near the beach. Its original typology is characterized by the presence of a central structure on the property and two courtyards, one in the front and one in the back; spaces that currently lack connectivity. From the perspective of the architectural team, they started with the maximum allowed construction limit and made reductions in this mass to establish the distribution of the architectural program. The purpose of this approach was twofold: first, to create voids that would generate visual transparency from one end of the property to the other, and second, to transform these voids into courtyards or gardens that would function as a natural extension of the residence.

The main entrance was strategically located, opening the main façade to the front courtyard that houses the living room. As for the backyard, it was designed with a pool and is delimited by the two volumes of the house, providing a greater degree of privacy. The project is characterized by a geometric interaction that combines straight lines and curves, giving dynamism to the architectural design. On the main façade, the curve represents a reinterpretation of the traditional gable roof, offering a creative solution to comply with height and roof design regulations.

In terms of materiality, instead of using prefabricated materials, the decision was made to use local resources and rely on artisanal processes to imbue the house with a sense of permanence and unique identity.
